On 12 August six Israeli soldiers entered the South Hebron Hills village of At Tuwani. The soldiers searched an olive orchard while three armed settlers observed from the gravel road running between Havat Ma’on outpost and At Tuwani. The settlers spoke with the soldiers during this operation, and an army jeep subsequently entered the village. The soldiers remained in At Tuwani for about one hour, and the excuse they gave to Operation Dove volunteers was that the Palestinians threw stones at the army the previous night.
